The modeling, analysis and numerical treatment of hyperbolic balance laws provide several challenging problems treated in the past as well as in very recent literature.
In this three day conference we want to focus on different topics related to hyperbolic balance laws and related fields of interest. To name a few:
We want to discuss symmetric hyperbolic systems which are compatible with thermodynamics and widely used in continuum mechanics. These hyperbolic models are capable of describing multiphase fluid dynamics as well as continuum mechanics including heat conduction and viscosity which are typically second order effects.
Moreover we want to adress open analytical questions concerning the convergence of numerical schemes and uniqueness of weak entropy solutions in multi dimensions. In particular a probabilistic notion of solution and related selcetion criteria are of great interest. The aim of this small confernce is to bring together scientists working on related fields, exchange ideas and recent results.
Further we want to take the opprtunity to celebrate Prof. Gerald Warnecke on the occasion of his retirement.
We hope for fruitful discussions which advance the progress in the field of hyperbolic balance laws.
